You’re team grey, you know that when you show up to the draft you have the best woman in spring league and the second best guy. This should make the draft an afterthought, but we’re not grading captains. We’re grading drafts. And team gray dropped the ball with their men picks. No dynamic playmakers, several solid picks, but no game breakers. The women however are solid top to bottom, this is not a crappy sausage team, no weak links.
This team will keep possession, but struggle to score in the long game.

This team was looking to recreate the midgetron magic and only draft players under 5’6”. They failed on their first try and got perhaps the best top 3 men lineup. This team is going to score in bunches, but their women might get taken out of the game by strong male lineup that works the disc. Look to score quick off turns near their goal since they have some great pullers that will make your offense start deep.

This team is built around a few skilled handlers who want to go deep to young tall threats. If this team can’t keep their top two handlers in on O points, the opposition might have to throw a zone to stop their eight and the Suppnick forehand.

The team affectionately known as the “cowboy scarecrows” picked very conservatively, never going for the homerun and risking the strikeout but instead being comfortable with attempting the bunt single. Round after round. This might leave them with the deepest bench in the league, but leave them highly vulnerable to team with more than one superstar that will cause major matchup problems on defense.

Several years out of the scene can lead to plusses as well as the expected minuses. Team Blue came to the draft with no preconceived notions, or mental baggage against potential draftees. This allowed for a free flowing thought process that gave them many attempts at making each pick, since they often picked people that other teams had previously also liked. They’re going to roll out three of the best athletes on the men’s side, with some cerebral women to keep the disc flowing. Points could be hard to come by against this suffocating defensive lineup.

Tall and fast, short and fast, old and fast; this team has it all when you’re looking for speed.
They also have the calming influence of a national champ on their squad.
Two of White’s top male draft picks will not be at the tourney, and two of their women run recleague. This is either a quick attempt to drink at the finale after the first round, or Waylon’s attempt to get to play every point. Which could be a good decision due to his overall skills.

Team Black scored with the late add of Ian Fisher from the waitlist. He is arguably the best player in the league and will lead to matchup problems on O and D. After that the bench looks a little thin. Mostly inexperienced male youngsters that could alienate the strong mature women core they picked up. Also, Chris Alexander is a wild card with the ladies.

I have no idea what this team was drafting, except maybe trying to get one player from each continent. The strategy is so far off what I am used to, that it could be the best team ever assembled, I can’t tell.

I don’t know who these captains are. But they know who the people are in the draft. This is a good looking team. They have some great height, some intense D players, and good depth. The only thing holding them back is the purple curse. No purple team has made semis in the past 3 years.

The oldest captains come in with an advantage. They’re the best captains too. Capable of getting more out of the sum of their parts, they could show up having accidentally drafted a junior high softball team and still have a winning record by the end of the year. They already had the experience so they made a move toward youth and speed. Don’t bother with a zone, you can’t slow down what you can’t kill.

This is potentially the oldest team in spring league since last year’s orange team. The color Orange always seems to collect veterans like most teams collect empty beer cans. This team will use it’s experience to it’s advantage as it boasts two nationals levels master’s players whose main skill is throwing to each other for scores. If it worked in Florida it might work at Delta.

This team looks like it has all the strengths you’re looking for in a finals team. Huckers. Receivers. Experience. Young legs. It also has the added benefit of containing the players who will physically beat you down over the course of a game. Where’s the beef? It’s on this team, you can’t coach fat.
The only thing holding them back is some inexperienced women.

This team is like lichen. It grows on you. On first glance you see the holes, on second glance you see strengths. It’s like one of those old pictures that could be the young lady in the mirror, or the hag with a boa. Depending on your viewpoint.

An unholy union in captaining styles, this is sweet and sour, hot and spicy, salt and pepper, cock and balls. What this team lacks in “skill” or “ability” it more than makes up for in untamed aggression. Only players willing to layout into a brick wall or an opponent’s knee were considered. Bring ‘em back home in a body bag indeed.
